An Unpretentious Atmosphere Awaits You
The
Kent National Golf & Country Club is blessed with an impressive
Manor Clubhouse. An unpretentious atmosphere awaits you, with friendly
and courteous staff on hand to take care of your every need.
The Moatlands Manor House has had a long, but little known history.
The estate was first mentioned in the Anglo Saxon charter dating
from 759-765 AD, and again in the Inquisition Post Mortem of 1437
and 1439. The present Manor House was built in the 19th century
and was formerly the home to the Lord Mayor of London. In 1944 it
was used as a reserve hospital and later a maternity home.
Today, the estate has been lovingly restored both structurally and
aesthetically. Kent National is justly proud of their achievements,
not only in constructing a clubhouse of the very highest standard
but in saving a part of our English heritage.
The Brenchley Bar
The Brenchley Bar is located on the ground floor of the Manor
House and, with a wide range of beverages on offer, is widely enjoyed
by Members and visitors alike.
One of the charming characteristics of this room is the open fireplace,
which is constantly in use during the winter months. With a range
of daily newspapers and magazines available, many a golfer has sat
in front of the fire in one of the comfortable armchairs and decided
against braving the elements to play golf.
Where the fireplace is popular in the winter, the outdoor patio
area is equally appealing in the warm summer months. Relax, reflect
and refresh with a cooling jug of Pimms and take in the precious
warmth of the summer sun.
